My one act play, Chasing Angels, is premiering in Hurricane Season at the Eclectic Company Theatre July 24 – August 2! This is technically my Los Angeles playwriting premiere (who knew I’d have my Los Angeles AND New York premiere in the same summer)! The show is wonderfully directed by Danielle Cintron, and it should be really…geeky :)…it has a lot of astronomy stuff in it!
The play actually started as a 60-page one act I started in college. It was in a reading series with Inner Circle Theatre in 2006. When Hurricane Season came along, I decided to give myself a writing assignment and wittle down the sixty pages into 24 – and here we are!
I wouldn’t say its my strongest piece of writing (the plot is a bit thin) but there are a lot of things about it that I love – which has kept me from throwing it out the window after all these years! It’s one of the more personal plays I’ve written – which is maybe why it keeps evolving and trying to find its true form.
Hurricane Season is a lot of fun – and the audience gets to vote on their favorite pieces, so please come out! I’d love to hear feedback, and its always exciting to see plays by up-and-coming writers. At least for me it is.
